According to the Guinness Book of Records, the oldest dog lived to be 29.
Do small breeds outlive large dogs?
Yes. Giant breeds, such as the Great Dane, St. Bernard and Bernese mountain dog, typically have a shortened lifespan and are considered “geriatric” by age five. Small breeds, such as miniature poodles, Chihuahuas and others, typically live two or three times longer.
Do dogs get Alzheimer’s?

What’s my dog’s life expectancy?
Breeds age differently. Giant breeds age fastest and have a life expectancy of less than 10 years. Large- and medium-sized dogs tend to live 11 to 14 years on average. Small breeds can live well past age 15.
